Anticipating our next book

Statement #1 is something I strongly agree with. At one point in everyone's life, a person should want to achieve something great. My dream is to be in the MLB and become the greatest baseball player in the history of baseball. I have the ambition to accomplish my goals. I put in a lot of work and making extra time to do drills. If one day I fail to accomplish my biggest goal, that doesn't mean I have to give up because I know something better will come in life.
Statement #7 is something I strongly agree with. Going through sorrow is something that will happen one day in life. Death in my family helped me become stronger and made me closer to my family. The experience also helped me mature and understand somethings can't be prevented.

Hits and Misses

I have struggled with many writings and have been successful in many writings. The writing I struggled with the most was my Nelson Mandela paper. The big mistakes in the paper were grammar and formatting. After receiving my grade, I looked and focused on how I can correct my mistakes. I  used my mistakes to make something better out of it. This paper made me better at my blogs and my reading responses.
The most successful paper I wrote was the LOTF paper because I wrote about my feelings and felt comfortable about my argument. My formatting was well. I went to the Writing Center and Dr. D for help several times. I allowed the Writing fellows to check my information about the book and proofread. From this paper, I have grown on my vocabulary skills and improved my writing. I also grew on a little of my grammar. By writing this paper, I gained more confidence on my opinion.

Strategies for Purple Hibiscus

The strageties I use for Purple Hibiscus is to annotate and paying attention to Kambili's feelings about each character. Kambili uses her feelings to give you the understanding of the different characters  and how to interpret them throughout the book. Her feelings also gives a full understanding of herself and how she wants to handle the situation. Annotating different quotes is a great way to get more understanding from the book because you can underline the key events in Nigeria and moments in Nsukka.
The most effective for me right now is annotating because I do it a lot and right my feelings on the side of the pages. The challenges I have is learning about the military dictatorship and how to understand what their plans to do in Nigeria. I'm solving this problem by looking more in the book about how they are affecting the community.I also need to be more observant about life in Aunty Ifeoma's house. I hope my strategies help me and my classmates get a better understanding for the test and receive good grades.

New York Times Prompt

Since my high school days begun,my childhood memories started to fade away,so I'm going to tell you about my childhood memories. My most precious childhood possession is my turtle. Ever since I was 4 years old, he has been with me and has become a part of my family. He is cool and is a the only friend I can't talk to. While he was sleep or just running around, I watched my favorite shows such Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Cory in the House, Spongebob Squarepants, and Zoey 101. All the shows were funny and they were the reason I watched Disney and Nick. Other shows I seemed embarrassed to watch was That's So Raven and the Powerpuff Girls. I also wish I could remember my days in t-ball and getting my dog because that was the start of my baseball career and my new stage of life.
My favorite picture books were One Fish,Two Fish and I Survived books. Sometimes  I felt like a creator of different things, so I created homemade birthday cards, pictures, and paper airplanes for  our family. I usually made them at my old school in Jackson, Mississippi. After school, I played with toys such as wrestlers and army men I used to carry around all the time when I would visit people or going on a road trip. The objects that tells a story about my life is a baseball and a football because that's the sports I played all the time and I sometimes felt like a famous star and was the best person on the team. My best sleepover moments I had was when we played baseball at night and played "Dark". The most memorable things I got in the mail was money. I don't have a nickname because Kolin is a great name already.

Political Article

In the article, former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been unemployed in the NFL. The NFL owners will not hire him because they want to avoid hearing Trump's anger about the situation on his Twitter account. Last season, Kaepernick kneeled during the National Anthem because the anthem didn't equal up to what is currently happening in America. In the article, it states that "critics decried his actions unpatriotic and disrespectful to military service members and the American flag".
I don't believe the NFL owners are afraid of Trump and his Twitter account. The NFL doesn't want to deal with the hatred from the fans and will affect their team's status. Colin Kapernick's purpose of kneeling was to take a stand to stop police brutality and have equal opportunities for minorities. I agree with Kaepernick on this issue in America and how we need to stop police brutality in America.
I felt like this was a good topic for me because I knew the main purpose of him kneeling, but I don't understand how his action to take a stand against a major problem in America led him to  unemployment. His actions to me was brave and he did receive a lot of criticism. I also wondered how the president's Twitter account and NFL owners being afraid of his opinion can affects someone's career and passion for the sport. Colin Kaepernick is an free agent mainly because of his opinion about the big problem in America that will never stop.
