Should We Abandon Louisiana by Zack Kopplin

In "Should We Abandon Louisiana", the main idea is the recent outcomes of the flooding and how Louisiana is having difficult time. The author told the audience about the results of the flooding such as "13 people have died and ten of thousands have been evacuated around Baton Rouge, Louisiana". Most of the victims from the devastating flood didn't have flood insurance to cover their homes. The victims are also using FEMA, or Federal Emergency Management Agency, to " only keep disaster victims safe, sanitary and secure", stated on page 2. The author also states that it was not suppose to hit Louisiana. The climate change was the reason for this historic flood. The coastal erosion is also a problem in the state of Louisiana. I believe the author agrees with the statement to "abandon Louisiana" because the author is providing the negative outcomes if we stay in the state of Louisiana. The is stating how fast coastal erosion is happening and how we may have to relocate to a different place. I also believe he may believe in rebuilding our homes, but doesn't seem to believe it could be done.
