Last Week

I had a very busy week last week. I had about 3 quizzes and a huge test that I was very nervous about. Baseball practice is where I have fun most of the time because I go home and start on my homework. Especially the 3-4 page outline that had to be singled-spaced. I had to find more sources because I didn't have a good amount of sources to make 3-4 pages. I worked on that assignment all week and then guess what? I have a rough draft due by Wednesday. Then I have Vocabulary.com and I had to study for my Spanish and Science quiz that I passed. I had a shadow from Northwestern Middle School named Ryan Armwood. He was cool and he seemed to like the school.
As soon as school was over, I had power lifting, which is fun because I love to lift weights. After that, I went home and jumped in my bed like a frog. It was soft and comfortable, which made my whole Friday. I woke up Saturday to workout again with my parents and worked on my squat, bench, and core work. I cleaned up the house after and rested for baseball practice. It was hot and the game lasted for and hour and thirty minutes. We have PFPs, which means you cover the base as a pitcher. That was fun and then I had mini-pen. And then today, I'm at the library at the moment to get books for my rough draft. It sounds lame, but it's fun because its about Nelson Mandela and the apartheid!

Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

In  "Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian", Arnold tells us about himself and his families' life. He explains his condition that left him," nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other.....seizures....headaches",stated on pg. 4. He also explains the harsh reservation he lives at with his poor family, which makes me sad and fortunate of what I have today. He is bullied a lot because of his condition. As a way to forget the negative actions that he has experienced, he draws as a way to express himself and feels comfortable in the world. I can relate because we express are feelings through writing. He also explains his best friend, his dog Oscar, getting killed by his father because he became very ill. Arnold seems to bring a depressing voice to the story as I read the story.
Arnold also brings a sense of humor to his diary as he expresses inappropriate jokes and different stories about his friend Rowdy. He explains Rowdy as a," big, goofy dreamer" as he reads silly books and laughs to them a lot. He also talks about his teacher Mr.P, who has a huge nose and about as short as me. He throws a book at Mr.P, who seems to me as a teacher with a low intelligence level. After, Mr.P explains that they were trying to get the," Indian out of them", on pg. 35. This set a spark to me that Mr. P didn't want the kids to know about their harsh reality. and became more intelligent students

Nelson Mandela

My topic is about the apartheid and what the challenges he faced to abolish it (research question). For background information, Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) was a human rights activist who went through hardships, such as racial discrimination and adversity to give blacks the same rights like whites. He also had a historical imprisonment that last up to 27 years.                                                                               The apartheid, a form of racial discrimination and segregation {similar to Jim Crow laws}, divided the racial classes. The whites had an area that separated themselves from the black society, which was poverty and breakdowns. Protest broke out daily that took a lot of lives and forced the imprisonment of Nelson Mandela. My topi is important because our society seem to remember Jim Crow laws in America, but another type of discrimination was involved in Africa. The apartheid in Africa  happened around Jim Crow laws. This topic matters because it shows how racial comments and inequality hurts blacks, that seem to be only cared by us.

Last Semester

Last semester was challenging for me since it was the beginning of high school. I realized that my performance in the classroom can improve if I review the topics I learned for the day and receive more practice. My writing seem to improve a lot, but still not at the highest level I want it to be at the moment. I also recognized that my bad habits seem to appear constantly. I am working on progressing on my habits since it doesn't help me at all in the classroom.
Good news is that I'm starting to break my bad habits by doing them constantly doing them, which it was a challenge because I've been doing for years. My mom recently gave me a book that helped break the bad habits and create new habits to become a better, well-organized person with great habits. I currently got A's and B's. I'm used to the feel of high school that makes feel better and more confident about myself and my schoolwork to make better grades.

Free Post

My weekend was a usual thing for me. Friday I had pitching for Coach T and I was really nervous. The reason was because he said you had to pitch 60% or you most likely was not going to pitch. I did good but still didn't know my percentage. After the pitching session, I had to run because I had to make powerlifting practice. When I got there, they were done. I asked Coach Conor can i lift, but he said he had to go to the airport. My Friday was technically over because I couldn't go to the Lee basketball game, which we lost.
I woke up Saturday to lift weights, which was so painful. I then went to baseball for outfield group and I hit in the cage at Traction. Baseball was off Sunday, but we had practice Monday. I had a hitting lesson with Coach Tom scheduled, but Coach told me I had to go to the first outfield group because Howell got stuck at the airport. Then I had to get ground balls for infield and then pitch to work on my slider. After, I hit in the cage and went home to study for 3 quizzes for today and notecards for World History.

Research Paper

The research project is going well so far. My paper is going well at understanding the information about the apartheid and the treatment of blacks in South Africa. My paper is also successful at the life of Mandela and how he went through. The paper is also going well on the white South Africans’     government plans and expectations to separate races.

Some of the project is not going the way I planned. I wanted to do a biography on Nelson Mandela, but seem to get mixed up on my topic sometimes. I am failing to get more specific information on the ANC and the other anti-apartheid organization.I'll continue to do research and figure out the problem as I continue with my paper, but I need to figure the problem out quickly.
