Nelson Mandela

My topic is about the apartheid and what the challenges he faced to abolish it (research question). For background information, Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) was a human rights activist who went through hardships, such as racial discrimination and adversity to give blacks the same rights like whites. He also had a historical imprisonment that last up to 27 years.                                                                               The apartheid, a form of racial discrimination and segregation {similar to Jim Crow laws}, divided the racial classes. The whites had an area that separated themselves from the black society, which was poverty and breakdowns. Protest broke out daily that took a lot of lives and forced the imprisonment of Nelson Mandela. My topi is important because our society seem to remember Jim Crow laws in America, but another type of discrimination was involved in Africa. The apartheid in Africa  happened around Jim Crow laws. This topic matters because it shows how racial comments and inequality hurts blacks, that seem to be only cared by us.

  1. You have an inresting topic, Kolin. Your last 2-3 sentences don't make a lot of sense? When you say African American race are you solely talking about blacks in America, or blacks in Africa?
