In Chapter 8 of " The Lord of the Flies", Simon was discovering the forest for the beast that the groups on the island have been looking for. Simon meets the pig's head left by Jack's group that speaks as the Lord of the Flies. Out of Simon's imagination, the Lord of the Flies plays with Simon's head by saying statements like," What are you doing here? Aren't you afraid of me?"........"Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill." Simon knows that their is no beast, but the littluns think there are. I believe the beast is nothing but imagination too, like Simon thinks.
The Lord of the Flies states that the island was meant for fun, which that is also the way Jack thinks of the mysterious island too. The Lord of the Flies scares Simon by saying,"-Or else we shall do you?See? Jack and Roger and Maurice and Robert and Bill and Piggy and Ralph. Do you. See?". I wondered if this statement will affect Simon in the rest of the book, which it did. This scene in Chapter 8 was significant because this event leads up to Simon's death in Chapter 9.
