The Writing Center
The Writing Center was a helpful place to improve on my paper. My writing fellow and I worked on my present tense and focused on one topic. We continued to work on how to stop the repetition in my paper and improve my formatting. We also worked on my introduction and conclusion, which was the toughest thing to do for this paper. We also focused more on the teacher's feedback to get ways to change up the paper.
Since I've been to the Writing Center, I looked for useless information such as quotations that doesn't support my argument. My conclusion doesn't bring up new information that doesn't support my claim and my introduction gives a perfect background of Lord of the Flies and my thesis. I worked on looking at sentences that is not needed and not explaining the story.

Myself in the Future
I see myself in the future being a famous baseball player living in huge mansion with my family. I hope to fulfill my life to the best of my ability by staying in school to make good grades and putting in more work to make myself a better player in the future. I want people to see me as a hard working person who believed in what he focused on the most, which is baseball. I also want the people of Earth to remember me as the greatest of all time and to ever play the sport at the level of Jackie Robinson and Ken Griffey. Jr.
I want to accomplish multiple goals as my journey continues to be the best to ever live. I plan to win a high school state championship and a NCAA College Baseball Word Series championship. I want to be drafted in the 1st round of the MLB Draft and get through the minors. I plan to win Rookie of the Year and be selected to the All-Star Game. I want to break records such as Ricky Henderson's stolen base record at 1,406. I want to win a MVP Award and win a Gold Glove Award, too. I want to win the World Series and most importantly, be selected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The goals I set for myself will be challenging, but I will not give up until I achieve them.

Time Management
My life right now is dedicated to school. Some of my time is dedicated to sports. But once I get home, I'm tired. I have to finish homework and probably have to study for a quiz or test. Being a Student-Athlete, I struggle with managing my time for studying for my classes and staying focus on my work. I know sometimes I don't love school like I love sports. I believe sports is the only thing that comes up in my mind all day. But then, my grades soon to decrease sometimes because of something I love so much. I don't do as well because I clam and I focus more on sports. I think of what time the MLB games start and seeing the highlights of the games. But once a class grade drops, my parents are hard on me because of my grades going from an A to an C or an A to a B.
Sometimes, I don't have fun at home because on weekends, I continue to do my school work and study because I have time. I have a lot of time on weekends because I don't socialize with other people and I don't have family in Baton Rouge. But during the week, I don't have time because of practice and once I get home, I'm tired and I don't do my best towards my school work. I recommend during tutorial, instead of socializing with friends, like I do, do work so you can enjoy the rest of your day and weekend. If you don't finish your homework, your just going to finish as soon as you get home.Oh I almost forgot. Try to do your homework on Fridays and your Saturday will be full of joy and memories with your friends the rest of your life. Or your going to end up like me, doing homework right now on a Sunday afternoon and I could be watching football with my family. So tell me your opinion on this post, because I know some of you are experiencing the same problem I have.

Troubles on my Literary Analysis
On my literary analysis, I have a lot of problems I'm trying to correct on my draft. I'm having trouble staying on the topic about my thesis. I continue to struggle on explaining the quotes and looking closely into the effect of the situation. I also have a problem of shorting my quotes because I want to use the whole quote to explain my supporting point. I am also having a problem of explaining the topic, but the people who read the book already know the information. I continue to explain the story.
The resources I used to help me get away from these problems was the Writing Center, my book, and a few websites on how to write an essay with a thesis. The Writing Center was very helpful because my writing fellow explained to me why some of my sentences weren't need and how to correct the sentence into the right form. My book was useful because as I looked at the quotes, I started to look for the characters' feelings and voice. The websites helped because it gave me an easier way to explain my information in my draft. I would look up different websites to help you with your problems and go to the Writing Center for further help.

Symbolism
One day on a Thursday night, Jordan and Sam went to a Thanksgiving dinner. When the two boys entered the house, the family said hey and gave hugs to the two boys. Jordan hid the flowers behind his back to surprise his grandmother with some flowers his grandfather used to give to her all the time for Thanksgiving before his passing. When he showed the red roses to his grandmother, tears came out of her eyes and reminded her of the memories her husband and herself had together. He gave it to her and she gave him a huge hug. As Sam saw the moment Jordan gave the flowers to grandmother, he forgot he had made a special video and photo book to remind everyone about their memories over the past few years. He went to the car and got his computer and photo book. He gave the photo book to his grandmother and she was surprised by the unexpected present that no one asked for. He plugged his computer up to the TV and it was videos of family reunions and birthdays and special moments the family had experienced.
From the short paragraph, a few symbols represents something special about the family of Jordan and Sam. The flowers Jordan brought to the table represent kindness and caring and supporting his grandmother though his grandfather's death. The family photos and the video represents love and flashback of the good memories the family had and selflessness on Sam's part. . The symbols represents the feelings of a Thanksgiving dinner.
How to Make a Million Dollar Pie
Before making the Million Dollar Pie, you need to get an 8 ounce container and a mixer. You need 1 can of condensed milk. You will also need 1 small can of crushed pineapples and a half can of pecans. You need 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and can of cool whip. And to finish the ingredients off you need the most important thing. 1 grain cracker pie crust.
To begin the Million Dollar Pie, take a mixing bowl and mix the cool whip and the condensed milk with the mixer. After mixing the cool whip and condensed milk, drain the juice from the can of crushed pineapples and mix it with the cool whip and condensed milk. Continue whipping and add the lemon juice slowly while using the mixer. Add the pecans into the bowl and mix. Stop the mixer and whip with spoon. Add the mix in the bowl to the pie crust and put the pie in the refrigerator for two hours before serving. I hope you enjoy my families' Million Dollar Pie.

Playoff Game in New Iberia
The Episcopal football team traveled to New Iberia to face the Catholic School of New Iberia. Everyone was serious about the game and ready to advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs vs. the winner against Dunham and Newman. At 6:30, we warmed up on a cold November night. The wide receivers was struggling with the routes and the running backs were hyped about this playoff game. The seniors was ready to play hard for their teammates and their possible last game as a Knight. Our defense stops the Panthers in the first possession of the game. When it was 3rd down for our offense, Kade Edenfield, our quarterback, threw a pass to Caden Dickinson for a huge touchdown in the first quarter. But sadly, that was the only touchdown we get in the first half. The score was 17-7 at halftime.
We started to slack off the rest of the game. The defense couldn't stop New Iberia's quarterback #2 because he ran all over the football field. He scored two touchdowns and it was 31-7 in the 4th quarter. Kade threw a pass to Caden that was tipped to Cole Carmouche for a incredible touchdown. But that wasn't enough to defeat the Panthers. We lost 31-14. The team was crying for the seniors because that was the last time we would ever play with each other ever again. The seniors told the under class-men we are the class that needs to step up. But everyone was happy after the game because we got pizza and made jokes on the bus.

LOTF Importance
A critical scene from "Lord of the Flies" was the death of Piggy. When Piggy was struck by a huge rock, the author stated that Piggy," fell forty feet and landed on his back across the square red rock in the sea. His head opened and stuff came out and turned red", stated on pg. 181. As Piggy was struck, the conch, stated on pg.181," exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist". The conch was a symbol of authority throughout the book. Ralph had no one in his group anymore after Simon and Piggy's death. Jack notice that Ralph has no power anymore because Castle Rock, Jack's group, had a lot of members.
Piggy's death also sends a message to the audience that Ralph might get killed by Castle Rock. The twins, Sam and Eric, states in Chapter 12 on pg. 188 that," They hate you. They're going to do you. They're going to hunt you tomorrow". Ralph soon runs away in the forest to escape from Castle Rock. When Jack scared Sam and Eric , Sam and Eric told Jack that he was there. Ralph, on pg. 200," looked up at a huge peaked cap". He was rescued which was led by Piggy's death.

How does the impact of the Alabama loss affect Coach O's coaching career at LSU?
The impact on the Alabama vs. LSU game was Jalen Hurt's running game. He had over 100 rushing yards and constantly got 1st downs on 3rd downs. The LSU defense was great until the 2nd half. Alabama soon got a touchdown from Jalen Hurt's and a field goal to seal the victory 10-0. I believe Coach O should have recognized that Jalen Hurts was killing the Tiger defense and the linebackers started to lost communication on the plays. The offense didn't step up and Leonard Fournette didn't do anything for the team like last year which will probably affect his draft stock.
The career of Coach O could affect him because the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated LSU 6 straight years. The LSU fans believed this was the year to defeat Alabama and feel that Coach O made the wrong play calls. He did good preparing the team all week and the way they started off was fantastic. But the team could not get the job done. LSU have to bounce back if they want to still be in the chase for the SEC Championship.

LOTF Response Chapter 8
In Chapter 8 of " The Lord of the Flies", Simon was discovering the forest for the beast that the groups on the island have been looking for. Simon meets the pig's head left by Jack's group that speaks as the Lord of the Flies. Out of Simon's imagination, the Lord of the Flies plays with Simon's head by saying statements like," What are you doing here? Aren't you afraid of me?"........"Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill." Simon knows that their is no beast, but the littluns think there are. I believe the beast is nothing but imagination too, like Simon thinks.
The Lord of the Flies states that the island was meant for fun, which that is also the way Jack thinks of the mysterious island too. The Lord of the Flies scares Simon by saying,"-Or else we shall do you?See? Jack and Roger and Maurice and Robert and Bill and Piggy and Ralph. Do you. See?". I wondered if this statement will affect Simon in the rest of the book, which it did. This scene in Chapter 8 was significant because this event leads up to Simon's death in Chapter 9.

Human Nature
Human nature is a way of how people feel or act. I believe human nature is not fundamental for people in this world. I believe people have to learn to be a good person or a bad person. For example, hate is not anything that comes natural. You are not born to hate anyone. You have to have a reason or learn why you hate.
The event that led me to this belief was going to school. In kindergarten, the teacher would teach you how to develop good manners. For example, the teacher would give you a treat and the teacher ask what do you say and you answered thank you. If you was asked a question, you were taught to answer the question. You were taught to be nice to one another. It did not become natural.Human nature is a thing you have to learn.

Lord of the Flies
In "Lord of the Flies", a choir full of boys' plane crashed on an mysterious island. The fair boy was named Ralph and the fat boy was Piggy. They searched the area for other boys and help, but never found them. Piggy found a conch in the ocean waters and Piggy used it as a whistle. He blew the conch and a choir of boys on the plane appeared. The boys introduce themselves and one of the characters was named Jack. The choir chose Jack to be the leader. The group of boys searched to see if it was an island.
The choir was in search for food and warmth. The choir was separated into groups; hunters and gatherers. Some of the children gathered leaves and sticks for a fire and the others hunted for the only source of food;pigs. They had no way to light the fire at first, but took Piggy's glass to reflect the sun to the sticks and leaves. The fire was lit for a while, but could never stay. The choir noticed that a boy was missing and might have died from the fire that was created. They are now in need of shelter.

My Wild Weekend featuring Jackson Sate vs. Southern
On October 15, 2016, the biggest game of the year in the SWAC was about to start. The game between Jackson State University and Southern was intense before the game even started. The bands was clashing and they were playing different songs. The noise was so loud and I was feeling the music. Southern was playing "Controlla" and Jackson State was playing " Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1". The trash talking started very early and the trash talking was all over the atmosphere. Jackson State was struggling early by giving up a rushing touchdown. It was 7-0 and the fans were already down. The Southern fans were saying,"Look at the scoreboard" and I was looking. They were winning. The second quarter was the best for Jackson State. We blocked a punt and scored a touchdown. The third quarter was bad. Southern shut us down and we made so many mistakes on defense. The fourth quarter was a nail-biter for everyone. We kept them at 28 by scaring them with our good defense. The play that killed us was the punt. We punted and Southern kept the ball for 5 minutes to win the game. I was very upset about the decision. My friends stated that they were going to "smash us", but only won by 4 points. That was very funny.
The Black Boy: Week 2
In "The Black Boy", Richard was sent to an orphanage because his mother was poor and his father left her with him and his brother. Richard said he was afraid and it was boring. His mom visited the orphanage at first and soon didn't come anymore. He ran away into the streets because he hated the new home. He went into the streets that he described as " dangerous, dark and the trees looked frightening". As he went into the streets, he looked at the "white" policemen. He states that the he is afraid of the "white" policemen because he thought he was going to beat him.
Richard told the policemen that he ran away and after he was fed at the police station. Miss Simon, the owner of the orphanage, was waiting at the orphanage and was angry. She yanked him and Richard states that he was "sobbing" and went to sleep. The next morning, his mother came to tell him that they will leave and go to Arkansas. They went to Richard's father house to beg for money.Richard states that he " doesn't want to talk to his father and he hates him. The father and a woman laughed at them and he asked Richard if he wanted to stay with him. He disagreed and they left the house. The three are now heading to Arkansas to live with his aunt's house.

Should We Abandon Louisiana by Zack Kopplin
In "Should We Abandon Louisiana", the main idea is the recent outcomes of the flooding and how Louisiana is having difficult time. The author told the audience about the results of the flooding such as "13 people have died and ten of thousands have been evacuated around Baton Rouge, Louisiana". Most of the victims from the devastating flood didn't have flood insurance to cover their homes. The victims are also using FEMA, or Federal Emergency Management Agency, to " only keep disaster victims safe, sanitary and secure", stated on page 2. The author also states that it was not suppose to hit Louisiana. The climate change was the reason for this historic flood. The coastal erosion is also a problem in the state of Louisiana. I believe the author agrees with the statement to "abandon Louisiana" because the author is providing the negative outcomes if we stay in the state of Louisiana. The is stating how fast coastal erosion is happening and how we may have to relocate to a different place. I also believe he may believe in rebuilding our homes, but doesn't seem to believe it could be done.

Anne Frank: Week 2{ Rewritten}
In "Anne Frank's: The Diary of a Young Girl", she talks about the Annexe her family stays in during the Holocaust. She states that the Annexe was at her father's job. The place was on the ground floor and it was very tight. The beds were close together. The bathroom had no window and the storeroom had a lot of room. The main conflict of this story is to stay away for Hitler and the Nazis. Hitler hates Jews and wants to destroy as many as he can. The Annexe had 3 floors and they had to be very silent. If they heard gunshots, they had a quick light to keep them safe. She stated that her mom was very mean, but her father understood her more. That tells the audience that she had a better relationship with her father. The one thing that I realized is that the family don't know she is writing these journal entries. The furniture was tight and the people living in the Annexe was crowded

My Weekend
My weekend brought a lot of memories to my mind. I packed up and we were heading to the the great city of Jackson, Mississippi to the Jackson State game When we arrived, the beautiful, clear skies surrounded the city of Jackson. My mom was putting lip stick on and my Pops putting on his Jordans. We started to walk and went to go get our tickets. My friends started to ask me " What is that college", which surprised me because the college is a well known Historical Black Colleges and Universities{HBCU}. We arrived at our seats and I could only look at one place. The left corner of the Tiger Stadium. My granddaddy Tillman spent his last moments of his life in that area. The game was full of proud fans and the Mississippi Valley fans were proud of their 14-3 to start the game.
Jackson Sate struck back and got an interception and scored to make it a 14-10 game. It was soon halftime and the score was 16-14. During halftime,Hall of Famer Jerry Rice went on the field to accept an award. He came to the game because he attended Mississippi Valley before he went o the NFL. The game stayed at 16-14 and JSU won. I went to my Nanna's house and that ended my weekend because I had to come home and do homework.

Anne Frank: Week 3
In "Anne Frank: A Diary of a Young Girl", Anne Frank and her family finds out that the Germans are gassing the Jews and calling them 'fatal accidents', according to pages 54 and 55. Anne Frank felt terrible and a lady named Miep is crying and a another lady named Bep is 'subdued, stated in page 54. The city of Algier has fallen from a potential bombing from the Germans. After the tragic events the family heard from the the radio, the family allows a new member into the Annexe. The new member is stated on page 65 that the new member named Dr. Dussel and is going to be explained the rules and procedures of the secret hideout for Jews.
The rules and procedures included restricted things and the time that everything happens. On pages 66-68, the rules said"the rest hours are from 10:00 to 7:30; 10:15 on Sundays"........."can't read German books"......."Courses in English,French, maths, and history is offered". Dr. Dussel didn't process all the rules at once and asked Anne Frank, in her words, "he asked all sorts of questions".The family celebrates Hanukkah and St. Nicholas' Day. St. Nicholas' Day was fun to Anne Frank and Hanukkah was ok to her. The story is getting better and I highly reccommended this book.

The Day I Rode a Bike Without Training Wheels
I was in Alabama in 2010 and it was a shiny, beautiful day. I got a new bike that was without the training wheels. I got on the bike and once I got on the bike, I fell. Neshana told me" You not leaving or going to ride your bike without learning it on your own". I was devastated because I did't believe I could do it. It took me about 10 times to accomplish this challenge. I did it for 5 seconds and I fell again. The bruises and scrapes were on me and I did once again. It worked and ever since, I found out if you believe, you can do anything. My Dad was so proud and I was a happy boy that day.

Harrison Bergeron
In "Harrison Bergeron", a 14-year old boy was arrested for being a genius. Harrison,s parents were smart also, so they had to be a type of avenge. George, Harrison's dad, had a handicap radio in his ear if he thinks of something. The mother was just very confused and dumb. Harrison so escapes from jail and went on the new television station. I soon wondered why he just went to the station.
He did that because he wanted to be the leader of this peculiar community. The ballerinas had to cover their face because they were beautiful. I also wondered why they always want the people to stay the same. Harrison kissed the ballerina on the ceiling and Harrison was shot and killed by a shotgun. This story really creep-ed me out and I was scared.

Dear 13-Year Old
Have as much fun with your friends as possible. The days in middle school will be fun and do everything as possible because once you turn 14, your childhood is basically over. You will be treated like a grown up ans have high expectations. Go to parties and dances. The memories will eventually fade away quickly. Your best friend may go to a different high school or your boyfriend may go to high school in Canada. Make memories and once the fun is over, you will remember it.
Your parents are going to make you buy your own things such as shoes and clothes. You will have more homework in high school and you are going to be upset. Middle school is not the same as high school. You have to meet new people and teachers. your going to have to have to step your game up. Being mature and stop being childish will determine what type of student you are. Learn from my mistakes...... not studying for a test two days early would make a parents explode.

The place was on the ground floor and it was very tight. The beds were close together. The bathroom had no window and the storeroom had a lot of room. The Annexe had 3 floors and they had to be very silent. If they heard gunshots, they had a quick light to keep them safe. She stated that her mom was very mean, but her father understood her more. That tells the audience that she had a better relationship with her father. The one thing that I think is that the family don't know she is writing these journal entries.

9/11
The story of 9/11 was the most tragic, depressing event in American history. During the morning of September 11, 2001, the Twin Towers were hit by 2 planes that killed a lot three thousand people. The United States was more curious about the terrorist attacks and the scary screams of people frightened the streets of New York. The ashes and black smoke spread-ed around the sky.
The hijackers hijacked four planes and also hit the Pentagon. The plane killed a lot of workers. They soon realized that this was a sign of war, stated by Bush[president at the time of 9/11]. Bin Laden was the main target for the U.S. This tragic event was the saddest moment in U.S history.

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl
This week on Anne Frank's diary, she talks about how she got her diary that she names Kitty and the people that she knows well. At the beginning, she tells us that she got Kitty on her birthday. She states that "you was the the first thing I saw". In the statement, she was referring to Kitty and she said it was one of her nicest presents. I love how she includes the dates of the days she wrote and how her days went. She soon explains the people in her in class. For example, she said she hates J.R . She describes the girl as a" sneaky,stuck-up,two-faced gossip who thinks she's so grown-up".D.Q is a nervous girl who's always forgetting things
She goes on about the people that was in her class. She had about 20 people in her class and one day she meets a guy named Hello. She describes how Germany was at the time of her life. She said that Jewish people where restricted to riding cars, to use swimming pools, and see Christians in their homes. They were required to attend Jewish schools, were required to frequent only Jewish barbershops and beauty salon. She said she lived with her grandmother and soon moved with her parents and sister.

When I Got In My First High School Football Game
It was a nice Friday night when I got in the football game.It was the start of the game and most of the freshman didn't play. I was afraid because the kids who played in the game were bigger, faster, and stronger. I thought I was too small to play with those type of players. It was the 4th quarter when I got in. The team was cheering me on to get in this huge game. Coach let me in and when they called my name, the crowd of girls were cheering and the sideline was happy for me. I was on offense and I just blocked. I felt like I was the biggest kid in the whole stadium. I got on defense, too. I should've had two tackles in a row, but the fear of getting ran over was in my head. They took me out, but I was the happiest man on earth. A girl asked for my autograph on her arm. We won 47-14 against Christian Life and it was the best "knight" of my life.
The Black Boy
This week in the book" Black Boy", Richard shows how his family was poor and how he had to live without his father. He explains how he started a fire in his grandmother's house when he was only 4. Richard described his grandmother as" old, wrinkled, and sick". He started a fire because he states that he was bored and wondered what will happen if he burned a curtain with broom straws. He started the fire, which was dangerous because he had a sick grandmother who could barely move. He also states that he hid under the burning house with fear and sadness. Richard heard his mother's scream that made him cry. No one was killed or hurt, but Richard was petrified. He was pulled by his mother and he was not whipped or in trouble because he was not aware.
After the massive fire, he moved to Memphis by a "tiny, dirty boat" that he didn't imagine. They moved in a one room apartment. When his father was sleep, a kitten made loud noises that woke his father up. The father told Richard to kill it. He hung it and his mother was upset and told him not to kill him literally. They buried the kitten and he was scared on the day he killed the kitten. He soon explains that his father left his mother with him and his brother and they had to eat after the"white folks" because his mother was a maid . He had to fight a gang to get food for his mother at the grocery store. The chapter shows how he had a rough and hard fought childhood.

About Me
Hello, my name is Kolin Bilbrew and I am still pretty nervous about high school. I love high school, but the people and the school is what I have to get used to. I love sports and video games. I love baseball and football because they are fun and I love to watch it on TV. I hate test and grades because sometimes i feel like I'm not as smart as I think.
My most embarrassing moment was when I got picked off at second by a trick play that I will never forget. The moment I will always remember is seeing the view of Paris from the Eiffel Tower. The funniest moment was breaking a stand trying to slap someone with Doritos, My favorite teams are the Red Soxs, The Celtics, and the Dallas Cowboys. I play for Episcopal football and baseball team. My favorite app is Snapchat and I have a lot of streaks. This is the blog about myself.

The book I read for my summer reading was Me,Earl, and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews. The main idea of this story is to not take life for granted and live life as long as you can. The main situation of Me,Earl, and the Dying Girl was that Rachel has leukemia and has no friends to talk to during this tough time of her life. One thing I noticed was Greg didn't want to help or be Rachel's friend at the beginning of the book. He didn't want to go to her house and didn't know what leukemia was.He thought it was a joke. He soon finds out it was serious by his friend Earl. The author wants us to think it was going to be a love story, but it doesn't happen. They were normal friends who soon has a bond with one another. Earl soon has a bond with Rachel, too. But at the end, Rachel are in love with his films and Greg and Earl thought their films were horrible. The author also makes us think it will be a happy ever after, but at the end a surprise at the end of this book will make you live life to the fullest. This book I fully recommend because of the relation to high school.
